Üniversiteyi, hapishaneyi, devleti veya emperyal odağı tamamıyla yürürlükten kaldırmanın neyi icap ettireceğini henüz bilmiyoruz. Üniversite Amerikan imparatorluğunun hedef alınması gereken sayısız kayda değer kurumlarından sadece bir tanesi ve bu belge o amaç doğrultusunda atılmış küçük bir adım. Çok barizdir ki hiçbir dezoryantasyon el kitabı kendi başına üniversiteyi ortadan kaldırmayı başaramaz ama her bir temas noktası aynı zamanda bir direniş alanıdır.

ما هنوز درک درستی از برانداختن دانشگاه، زندان، دولت یا به طور کلی یک نهاد امپریالیستی نداریم. دانشگاه یکی از نهادهای متعدد امپریالیستی آمریکا است که باید هدف قرار گیرد و این راهنمای نافرمانی تلاش کوچکی برای نیل به این مقصود است. طبیعتاً هیج راهنمایی به خودی خود موفق به انحلال نهاد دانشگاه نخواهد شد. حال آنکه می‌توان هر آنجا که با نهاد روبه‌رو می‌شویم را بدل به محلی برای مقاومت کرد
همیشه توان مقاومت دارید؛ باید با دقت و خلاقیت آن را متصور شوید! می‌خواهیم همه را تشویق کنیم که به‌طور انتقادی درباره آنچه نهادها از ما می‌گیرند (شهریه، اجاره، کار، زمان و غیره) و به‌ویژه اینکه در زمانی که دانشگاه از ما پشتیبانی نمی‌کند چطور می‌توانیم از یکدیگر پشتیبانی کنیم فکر کنند

Durante el año académico 2023-24, UCSD presenció la mayor ola de movilización política estudiantil en al menos una década, en una institución con una larga tradición de protestas. Esto incluye los movimientos contra la participación estadounidense en la guerra de Vietnam (1964-75) y el apartheid en Sudáfrica (décadas de 1960-90), la lucha por la creación del Colegio Lumumba-Zapata (1968-69), el Invierno Negro (Black Winter) (2010) y diversas campañas de desinversión desde la década de los años 2000. Los estudiantes de UCSD han criticado constantemente el papel de la Universidad en distintas injusticias.
A mediados de abril, siguiendo el ejemplo de los estudiantes de la Universidad de Columbia, una ola de campamentos estudiantiles se extendió por todo el país y, con el tiempo, por todo el mundo. En la mañana del 1 de mayo, Día Internacional de los Trabajadores, una coalición de estudiantes y miembros de la comunidad organizó el Campamento de Solidaridad con Gaza de UCSD. Este campamento se convirtió en un espacio de convivencia sin precedentes,cimentado en ideales políticos compartidos y el deseo común de oponerse a la complicidad de UCSD en el genocidio del pueblo palestino. Fue un momento excepcional en el que los estudiantes reafirmaron su autonomía, determinando la actividad en el campus y organizando sus actividades a través de mecanismos democráticos internos, sin intervención externa. Todo esto, contrastó con la habitual regulación del espacio y del tiempo impuesta por una administración universitaria hostil.

Translator’s Note This project seeks to make accessible passages from the (Dis)orientation Zine (2024), which has been circulating across UCSD’s campus and in the San Diego community, in languages other than English; and to update the zine so that it can be a resource engaged in an ongoing critique of the university, keeping histories and memories in motion. Taking into consideration institutions such as universities and the militarized carceral state (and the ways in which they overlap) as machines of power, these translations hope to share important information/ask challenging questions about how we can work collectively to resist violence and the imposition of control across linguistic contexts. Together, we ask: what can one language add to or reveal about the shared goals of abolishing the prison, the state, and the university?
